Flooring Updates!

Look what I came home to today!

The stain saga has come to an end!  I know I should give you the complete low-down about the decision process, but I am way too excited to show off our new floors!  I will give you the short version!

First there were three.  Too light.

Then (this is where it gets confusing) there were six more options.  I don’t know about you, but I can see the six different samples below. Yes, our floor stainer really liked me.  ;)

As much as I LOVE very dark stained floors (like the combination containing Ebony stain on the far left), it might be a bit trendy and my husband is too practical.  Someday we will have dogs, babies, or both.   As beautiful as it is, it would show everything!  So we moved onto the middle upper left side in which the floor was stained twice.  (However this is different than the middle bottom left side which contains ebony, follow me?)  Staining it twice decreases the contrast between the hard and soft parts of the oak.

The floor is white oak.Our stain is a 1-1-1 mixture of Antique Brown, Special Walnut, and Provincial.

Carpet was a no-brainer.  Mostly because everything in our allotment was brown or felt like lawn turf.  We chose the far left option.  It is called Fine Lace by Shaw.

Now back to the good stuff!

Every door upstairs was surrounded by newly stained wood floor.  I was dying to get a better look!  Unfortunately, the basement door does not have a door knob yet so there went that option.   It took a little ingenuity (and awkward positioning), but I made it inside without stepping foot on those floors!

Have I told you lately that I LOVE my house!

Oh, and our new carpet!

(Sorry if I am crashing your server with my giddiness and photos galore)

One complaint however….they left the pantry light on!  I can’t get back to shut it off until Thursday!
